Australian Heritage Motor Inn

The Australian Heritage Motor Inn Dubbo contacted us with a bit of a quandry. Their old website had been wiped out, and they needed a new one. Fast. Mayo Magpie was able to deliver a shiny new website from their exact specifications in a weekend.

Peter and the team at the AHMI then hired us to undertake some Search Engine Optimization. They had another problem - their old website had been ranked after 100 listings on Google - they were on page 11. They needed to be brought to page one for their market segement as fast as possible. Mayo was able to deliver this, and now the website is ranked on the first page for every important search term the motel required.

John Gordon Electrical Dubbo

Website, Search Engine Marketing

John Gordon has been Dubbo's go-to handyman for more than 40 years. And for 35 of those he's been Dubbo's specialist air conditioner installer and repairer. But John had never advertised online before. He knew the importance of the burgeoning internet market, so he asked us to create a website for him, and to advertise his new website on Google to capture search terms for air conditioning repair, installation and maintenance.

We created a simple, attractive website for John, focussing on his air conditioning experience. It's a no-nonsense design, which pays attention to the many years experience John has brought to the region. T.V. Commercial, Digital Marketing, Print & Graphic Design

We've created marketing for publishers like PanMacmillan and authors like Australia's number 1 bestseller Matthew Reilly.

Mayo was hired to design online digital content for Reilly's Area 7, and we served as conceptual designers to create the T.V. Commercial for his range of action novels (production by OneZeroOne).

Additionally, we've provided marketing, print and graphic design services for books like the Horror High series and local author Judy Walker's debut Warts and All.
ISPA Kebab Television Commercial

Television Commercial

ISPA Kebab Bathurst hired us to create a 30 second T.V. Commercial. The store creates fine quality meals from the freshest ingredients, and they approached Mayo to emphasize this to the region.

It was important to maintain a high quality production, canvassing as many market segments as possible in a light hearted way. After conducting market research, we discovered the store had become renowned for the fresh ingredients, stacked in piles for all customers to see. And so these fresh "mountains" became the theme of the ad.

The ad was shot in a single afternoon, for a budget of less than $1,000. ISPA reported an increase in sales following the ad, as well increased brand recognition, with many customers mentioning the "Fresh from the Mountains" approach as memorable and entertaining.

Last Ride

Web Development, Production Assistance

Mayo Magpie crew served as consultants on the production of the horror feature film Last Ride, from director James Phillips. 9 mountain bike riders set off into the blue mountains. Weeks later, only their bikes, blood, and a helmet mounted camera are found.

Chifley Centre Opening

Video Production

When Prime Minister Julia Gillard opened the recently completed Chifley Centre in Bathurst, ahead of her Light on the Hill anniversary speech, Mayo Magpie was who they turned to document the historic moment.

Mayo Magpie was the official behind the scenes documentary crew for this event, becoming one of the first teams ever to document a world leader with a HDSLR video system. With our small footprint, we were capable of getting more footage, in higher quality, so that the event can be archived for future Australians to enjoy.
Got Game

Video Production, Graphic Design, Print Design

The Got Game project was funded by the Copyright Agency Limited, and was an insight into the creation of games development, focussing on story development and the importance of literacy in delivering a video game.

Mayo Magpie created an interactive DVD and full colour workbook, which was distributed to schools around Australia. Mayo took care of all aspects of development - from pre to post production. The project was written and presented by teen fiction author Paul Stafford.

Cineliteracy

Education Initiative, Digital Media Production

Cineliteracy campaigns are groundbreaking initiatives which encourage the promotion of literacy through a film making framework. Mayo Magpie crew were hired to present workshops and create short films with more than 100 schools around Australia.

The initiatives were created in conjunction with agencies like Arts Outwest, Outback Arts, the Australian Government Department of Water, Energy, Heritage and Resources, the Copyright Agency Limited and the N.S.W. Department of Education and Training.
Video Conferencing Masterclass

Presented by teen fiction author Paul Stafford and Penny Packham, this production explores successful video conferencing techniques for education professionals

Mayo produced the project from pre to post production, with filming taking place at the Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum. It was edited and finished at Mayo Magpie studios and distributed digitally in 2011.

Project CMD is our most ambitious project to date. Featuring complicated visual effects, the [REDACTED] spent 3 months in pre-production, despite being shot in a single day. It took many more months of post production to complete. It required collaboration with artists from Australia and the U.S.

Featuring performances from [REDACTED], and music by [REDACTED], the project remains a mystery, with good reason.
